Energy Efficiency Scores Highly in Air Conditioning Industry Award5th June 2008, 7:42 A unique air conditioning technology from Daikin has been recognised for its high levels of energy efficiency and for meeting the demand for low carbon technologies in the commercial and industrial sectors with a prestigious award.
Daikin’s VRVIII Heat Recovery was selected by judges as being one of the most energy efficient air conditioning solutions in the UK through the innovative use of heat pump technology to recover heat from interior locations and re-use it to heat and cool premises. The end result is a system that exceeds the energy efficiency targets set out by the Government in Part L of the Building Regulations and also goes beyond the current criteria set for ECA qualification. VRVIII Heat Recovery also includes a number of other industry leading features. Whilst other VRF systems, for example, stop operating in the defrost mode, VRVIII comprises two heat exchangers in the outdoor unit. This enables the system to defrost each heat exchanger separately, resulting in continuous heating at the indoor unit even during the defrost cycle, maximising comfort for the occupants. VRVIII also stood out for its innovative automatic refrigerant charging and checking facility, a unique element of the product’s design. This facility ensures the correct refrigerant is applied which helps to minimise leakage, further enhancing the product’s environmental credentials.
